Chronic pain has many causes. Trauma, long term wear and tear, stress, even diet can cause chronic pain. How do you live a normal life when dealing with so much pain every day?

First step, of course, is to see your doctor. Find out the cause (if possible) and if there are any therapies or medications that can help you start your journey to recovery.

But what if there doesn’t seem to be a cause? All of your tests are normal. Every scan shows that you are in perfect health, but you are still in debilitating pain every day.

This is where you become the detective. You must look at all areas of your life to find what is out of sync.

What does your diet look like?

How many servings of fruits and vegetables do you eat every day?

How do you feel after you eat? An hour after you eat? Five hours after you eat? How much sugar is in your diet?

How much water are you drinking?

Keeping a food log can help you identify patterns of pain caused by eating certain foods.

How much sleep are you getting?

Do you have full range of motion?

Does the time of day affect how you move?

Are you able to exercise?

What emotions are attached to your pain? Is there anger? Sadness?

Do certain situations cause your pain to flare up?

There are so many aspects to pain. It’s no longer a matter of just getting some rest, or taking some medicine and it gets better. The button below leads to an app called Curable. This app shows how the brain is responsible for all of the pain in your body and how to retrain your brain to deal with pain better. There are lessons, meditations, activities, and journal prompts to help you take control of your pain.
